WEEK 6 : REFLECTIONS ON MIS LECTURE AND LAB

WEEK 6 Lecture:
The lecture was on cloud computing and relational database. This lecture delved more into cloud computing which the lecture swears by as the future of computing. We looked at the aspects of content delivery networks (CDNs), grid computing and green computing. The lecture covered using relational databases in creating, manipulating and organizing data. Microsoft Access is the database we are using for this topic

The Lab:
The lab covered LOOKUP and VLOOKUP functions in Excel. The LOOKUP function is used to search one column of data and find data in corresponding row. For example, in a supermarket warehouse, if you are searching a column of product IDs the LOOKUP function can find say Product number xxxxx in the ID column. Once that ID is found it can then return data from that same row.
The VLOOKUP is used to search the first column of a spreadsheet for a value. If the value is found, data can be returned from any cell in the row.

THE GROUP ASSIGNMENT
We progressed this week by creating the details of the points to follow in a powerpoint format. Kingsley created the format and emailed to everyone using the data we got from the company. There was update to the template from Abeck and others were copied. We are currently working through email and WhatsApp chat.
