Week 10: Lecture, Seminar and Group Activity
Week 10: Lecture, Seminar and Group Activity
The lecture this week is on Sustainability and Business in the 21st Century taught by James Whittingham the LSBU Sustainability Manager. This lecture centered on how businesses should strive to do more to create a sustainable world. We are encouraged to see sustainability as an opportunity and not a problem. We looked as case studies of sustainability projects by some major companies. Some of the corporate sustainability projects were : Unilever's Handwashing Campaign that goes beyond CSR and saves lives, Tesla selling sustainable innovation in electric cars and reducing environmental pollution. At LSBU, the Recycling and Waste Management with New bin stickers is the campus sustainability project. Other ways of sustainability at LSBU include reducing electricity and gas consumption, reducing water use, recycling and waste management, bicycle storage areas on campus, free bicycle servicing, the technopark wildlife garden and weekly gardening club, fairtrade certification, sustainability information on school website, the elephant app, sustainability events and activities.
The seminar session this week was used to complete the presentation slides and group business case project.
Group Project:
We continued working this week to correct the identified technical problems on the video we shot on 18/04/2018. We booked a room at the LSBU Learning Resources Centre to re-shoot the video by 11am on 20/04/2018. Afterwards we will be working hard to finish up and submit before the submission deadline.
